Bahia Coral Lodge

"The house was very well decorated and finished to a high standard. The reef around it was beautiful, we seen a spotted eagle ray, octopus, moray, barracuda, toadfish, and more while snorkelling. Very peaceful, the owners live close by and stocked up the mini fridge within minutes of us asking. There was also the offer of breakfast and a 3 course dinner, which we didn't take, but in hindsight, might have made the trip even better. Wonderful 2 nights and would highly recommend. There was drinking water provided, warm showers, a toaster and a gas hob and the hosts were in contact before and during my visit, so i could find out anything i needed to know in advance."

"A/C would obviously be lovely, but with 2 fans in each room and the ability to leave the doors open with a screen in front, it was comfortable. On the second day, we closed the curtains in the evening to stop the bedroom heating up as much, which also helped. Of course, as it is solar powered, this wouldn't be possible. A bbq would also be a lovely addition, but on a wooden structure, is obviously a no go."

"Incredible location, absolutely stunning view, beautiful house. We stayed for three days, brought our provisions from Bocas town to cook, and were cocooned in paradise. Snorkelled several times a day - rays, lionfish, batfish - but the most beautiful were the myriad small outcrops of coral, each with its own ecosystem. Went paddle boarding and kayaks were available. We absolutely loved our stay at Bahia Coral Lodge."

"The house is in a perfect setting. Quiet and beautiful. So peaceful and with masses of sky and sea always something to look at from the terrace. And once tiring of the terrace just drop into the sea and snorkel around its own coral reef. We saw plenty of fish but the most special were an eagle ray and a small shark (reef shark?). As well as the house being very comfortable, the hosts were very welcoming and helpful and we even managed to check-in early. We were surprised to find paddle boards, kayaks and snorkelling equipment all on hand to use. The only downside of this wonderful house are the eating options (see what we didn't like), but with planning and without great expectations this needn't spoil your visit."

"The only negative point of this house is being able to eat well! Breakfasts provided by the hosts were great. But for the rest there are no shops or restaurants nearby so everything is a water taxi ride away. With a round trip of $40 for 2 to go to Bocas frequent shopping trips are expensive. And the selection of food in the many small supermarkets in Bocas was very unfamiliar so it was difficult to pull together ingredients to create varied and interesting meals. But perhaps I'm just not very creative. If you can get the ingredients the kitchen was well equipped. It would also be possible to get water taxis to restaurants, but we didn't try this. So not the fault of the property, but something that needs to be considered to have a truly perfect stay in the villa."

"What a gem! This place is so thoughtfully built and designed and you can fall out into the coral reef where you can snorkel to your heart’s content. They also have kayaks and paddle boards and plenty of water ways to explore along the coast. Considering that it is off-grid and only water-taxi accessible, the kitchen and shower amenities were excellent. Very necessary to do a big shop before you arrive (and we recommend the Mini Super Calle 8 supermarket as not far from the pier as another place to stock up if you can’t get everything you need at the 3R mall), but they also provide some snacks and drinks for purchase in the fridge. If you want a relaxing getaway on Bocas, I really can’t think of a better place (Just make sure to bring extra bug spray as the sand flies can really have their way, although some bug spray is also provided)."

"Very beautiful villa, magical place. The corals are right in front of the house, perfect for snorkeling, but always stay careful to preserve this amazing nature. The hosts were really welcoming and helped us with the boat transfers. The villa proposes kayaks, paddles and snorkeling equipment, which is very pleasant. We enjoyed a great view from our room. The dinner option was delicious too !"

"Be aware that the villa is in the middle of nature, which is great but also implies a few things: planning transfers and supplies, and, as many places in Bocas, you can encounter sand fleas (but only outside, on the evening/morning, from our experience)"

"Faz parte do isolamento que a casa proporciona: o custo do barco taxi pode ser uma dificuldade, a restrição de potência que faz com que não possa haver ar condicionado ou microondas. Mas tudo isso faz parte do encanto de ficar longe !"
