Sinharaja Forest Gate

"Amazing location with trees, mountain and sky view. Right next to the chalet it was the sinharaja forest boarder where you can see and hear birds all the time. Felt like in the middle of rain forest. Comfortable, calm and comfy. Great hospitality from the staff as well. Very much worth for the price. Highly recommended."

"It's not about the hotel but more about the tours in Sinharaja itself. Not much opportunities to do autonomous walks around. Expensive tours to visit the jungle. The guide the hotel provided when I booked with them was nice, but he was barely speaking English, he was pointing at wildlife but we were not explained anything about the species, their biology etc a bird was a bird, a lizard was a lizard, no name identification ... It might be okay for some people but I found it very frustrating. At least they should provide for the day a book or flyer with pictures and names of what we could see if they don't speak English."

"Food was yummy, the staff were very friendly, and the pool was a great place to meet other tourists visiting the area. The forest itself was right on the doorstep. If you like wildlife, you really must visit."

"As I was there to explore the rainforest, it was the ideal place to stay because it's just 50 metres from the entry gate. I was given a big room. Had excellent views of the hills and the forest area from the property. Nice dining deck with good food. Every morning they packed breakfast for me before I went out to safaris."

"Amazing location in rainforest right next to park entrance. True nature vibes with sounds of the jungle all around you, the pool is a nice bonus. Decent enough food albeit quite basic, helpful staff, they can arrange guide for you into the forest and taxi etc. Note may need them to pick you up as access road is limited so taxis won’t always go down it, so save their number to ring when you’re getting close."

"Breakfast was limited to fruit, toast and omelette which wasn’t to my taste. Good coffee though which made up for it (a lot of other rural places seem to just serve instant)"
