Located in the coastal town of Mosfellsbaer, this hotel is just off Iceland’s scenic Ring Road. Central Reykjavik is 10 minutes’ drive away. Both Wi-Fi and on-site private parking are free. Each guest room at Hotel Laxnes features a seating area, work desk and TV. Some also have a kitchenette and a balcony with scenic views. The spacious rooms are simply, yet comfortably decorated. Daily specials, light meals and refreshments can be enjoyed in Laxnes’s restaurant and bar. Staff will gladly help to arrange area activities such as horse riding, fishing and kayaking. Whale watching tours and jeep safaris are also common.

"The hotel is pretty accesible and there are a few supermarkets and restaurants. Everyone was very nice and they helped us with anything we needed. The room was quite big, super clean and the views to the mountain are amazing."

"Receptionist was extremely nice, polite and helpfull. A wonderful, varied breakfast was included in the price, and there's also an outdoor jacuzzi on site. The hotel offers views of the Northern Lights, and a supermarket and gas station are nearby."

"Throughout our trip to Iceland, we saw different hotels that we assumed were part of the same Fosshotel chain, and they always seemed very modern, but the Fosshotel Stykkishólmur wasn't so modern; it might be considered even a little dated. The room was okay, but the bathroom really needs some update. It even had a certain smell. We were traveling with a friend and requested a three beds room. The third bed was kind of small (we don't think a man could have slept there), and it wasn't very comfortable either. You're paying for a room for three people. It wasn't something we asked at last minute. We had dinner there, and it was delicious. The breakfast buffet was the best and with most variety of all the ones we had at the different hotels. The staff both at reception, bar and restaurant was very friendly and helpful, although in general, we were expecting more for our money."

"What a gem this hotel was! We happened to get a free upgrade to a room with a lake view. The price was decent and the entire complex was almost luxurious. Even though it is in the middle of nowhere, they cater for everything that one would require. We certainly had a good time during our dinner as well as at our breakfast the next morning. I still can't believe what a delicious and plentiful buffet they prepared for their guests. Even though the hotel is a bit off the Ring Road, it is certainly worth a stay."

"We had a wonderful time! The apartment felt so cozy and spacious, and you really can't beat the location—we walked everywhere. The kitchen had all the essentials, which made our short stay very easy. Just a quick tip for future guests: there’s no elevator. We managed fine, but if you have kids or lots of bags, definitely ask for a ground-floor apartment ahead of time!"
