"The host was very helpful. He recommended an excellent restaurant and booked it for us. He also recommended a great bike ride to a local village with a sculpture trail in a forest. Pesmes is a very special place and Maison Royale is steeped in history."

"Building, very old stone castle, very well restored, worth seeing absolutely! Something very unique! Also owner very well introduced surrounding old village area. Which is very very nice, small, but lots of old nice buildings to see!"

"An amazing, quirky house in which we felt honoured to stay. Friendly and hospitable hosts made us feel very welcome on arrival despite us being very wet bikers. We loved exploring the house and all of its interesting artifacts. Very short walk around town (10 mins) and we had an excellent meal there. Breakfast was continental and plentiful. The rooms are fantastic we were very happy to see a bath as we were cold and wet on arrival. If you want modern comfort in a soulless hotel chain, then stay elsewhere. If you love historical buildings, antiques and don't mind a dated but fully functional bathroom, then you'll want more than one night here."

"It was a historic and nice hotel with a nice owner that was very helpful - no matter questions. The location is central in this small village with only five minutes walk to a great restaurant on the river."
